Applying for VA disability can be a challenging process. At times, veterans may seek an evaluation from a private provider in order to assist in establishing a diagnosis or otherwise qualifying for benefits. Since 2020, Dr. Buick has assessed thousands of military veterans through the third-party VA system and was also part of an independent medical opinion team. Developmental assessments are typically performed when a child or young adult is struggling academically or socially. Assessments involve testing of various cognitive abilities, which allows the psychologist to acquire information about a patient’s functioning in the realms of intellectual, motor, memory, behavior, language, and executive functioning. This data, combined with an individual's personal history, can help provide a diagnosis and specific recommendations for treatment. Dr. Buick has completed thousands of hours of psychological testing with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Common referrals are for autism, intellectual disabilities, giftedness, learning problems, and ADHD.

These evaluations help provide clients and their treatment providers with valuable information about diagnostic clarification in order to guide them toward the best course of treatment. Dr. Buick uses a comprehensive approach to these evaluations in order to ensure all potential possibilities are addressed.
